Mathijs Bertel, known from Ansatz der Machine, returns home with his new project Nausca. Nausca blends live music with film. 'The Story of Lung‑ta' is both an ode to nature’s biodiversity and a wake‑up call about how our civilisation treats that fragile richness.

On a cold morning, a young girl washes ashore on a raft. She wakes to find herself in a strange, singular world. As she travels through it, she tries to understand nature - the living environment around her. A world that is one and indivisible, yet also deeply unwell. From time to time she is guided by windhorses: beings that appear in different forms, like guardian spirits, helping her read, feel and ultimately save the world she has landed in.

Nausca presents an audiovisual performance in which four live musicians - harp, strings, drums, electronics, guzheng, nyckelharpa and yayli tambur - tell the girl’s story through real film footage, animation, graphic elements and immersive sound.

The girl’s name, Lung‑ta, refers to the Tibetan prayer flags depicting a rider and a horse. The windhorses represent the invisible force of the wind that sets the flags in motion. These “horses of the wind” symbolise the power and natural rhythm of the world around us, capable of bringing both fortune and adversity.

'The Story of Lung‑ta' is an ode to the biodiversity and beauty of nature - and a wake‑up call about how our civilisation treats that fragile richness.
