The Ghent singer-songwriter Bram Vanparys forms the band The Bony King of Nowhere together with Jasper Hautekiet (bass), Gertjan Van Hellemont (guitar), Thijs Troch (keys) & Simon Segers (drums).
How do you make it?
“I have been concerned for a long time about how we as humans deal with the world we live in, but it is only now, with the latest album, that I have found a musical form to give those concerns a place. This is how the concerts came about, from a deep urgency to address social issues in the hope of giving something to people to think about. Don't expect finger-pointing protest songs, but rather an observing and introspective view of the world from our Western perspective.”
"How do you follow up a masterpiece? Simple, you just make another one. The Bony King of Nowhere has never been better in his place. Everyone should know it."

Why do you create it?
“I value bringing people together more than ever, because isn't being together the most beautiful thing there is? Being together is something fundamental that defines us as humans and connects us throughout the past thousands of years. Something only gains value and meaning in my eyes when you can share it with your fellow human beings. In this way, the songs also truly find their meaning when I can share them and when they nestle into the lives of other people.”
With whom do you create it?
“I have an incredible live band with whom I put the concerts together. You know Simon Segers as the drummer for Sylvie Kreusch, Gertjan Van Hellemont of course as Douglas Firs, Jasper Hautekiet as the bassist for Steven De Bruyn, and Thijs Troch as the keyboardist for Nordmann. But the audience also helps create a performance. Each concert grows the music through the interaction with the people, and the songs gain multiple meanings through the stories that people sometimes entrust to me.”
