#SBS 3.8: Suzume
Sandra Hilaerts aka Suzume, a dancer and choreographer from Brussels, developed her unique style through encounters with artists and personal experiences. Although she did not pursue a professional dance education, her passion for the art remained unwavering.
In 2012, Sandra discovered the vibrant Vogue Ballroom culture as a safe space for transgender women, queer individuals, and artists to express themselves authentically. She became one of the pioneers of the Old Way style in Belgium, known as Pop, Dip, and Spin.
Since 2016, Sandra has actively participated in Vogue Ballroom events and has won several major awards in her category. She also has the honor of judging Vogue balls nationally and internationally, where participants compete in performance, appearance, attitude, and fashion.
