#SBS 4.1: Myriem El-Kaddouri
Myriem El-Kaddouri is a jurist, poet, and word artist. In 2023, she became the West Flanders champion of slam poetry. Since then, she has been performing her poetry on various stages. Myriem primarily writes about identity, transience, and comfort, and aims to use language to create recognition and connection. In 2024, at the invitation of the Belgian State, she gave a speech on intersectional gender equality for all member states of the Council of the European Union. In June 2024, her debut collection 'Here lies the truth in abundance' was published by Uitgeverij Vrijdag. Since 2024, Myriem has also been the city poet (letterzetter) of Kortrijk until 2026.
