'Plant Theatre For Plant People'
Co-creation process with Grace Ndiritu in Studio Texture

Starting in February, you can participate for free in the co-creation workshops 'Plant Theatre For Plant People' at Texture, where you will create colorful masks, costumes, and protest signs together. Together, we are building a hopeful, sustainable future. In the fall, all creations will come to life during a large collective performance ... and you can be a part of it.  Interested in co-creating a new era? Then join 'Plant Theater For Plant People'.

PARTICIPATE (FOR FREE)

'Plant Theatre For Plant People' is part of 'The Last Days of Ancient Sunlight', the new art project by Grace Ndiritu that she created exclusively for the reopening of our Theater. The artwork is inspired by the book 'The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight' by Thom Hartmann and invites us to awaken in a time of ecological and social change.

'The Last Days of Ancient Sunlight'

Grace Ndiritu is a British-Kenyan visual artist, filmmaker, and writer. With ‘The Last Days of Ancient Sunlight’, she creates a work of art inspired by the book ‘The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight’ by Thom Hartmann for the reopening of our Theater. In this project, she explores our irresistible urge to create a new, sustainable future – in defiance of global chaos and the climate crisis.

The project acts as an alarm clock: a call to (re)awaken. Not only must we awaken ourselves, but also the theater as a space for reflection, community, and change. The rising sun in her art symbolizes the beginning of a new era, an era of hope, renewal, and restoration of nature.

Grace Ndiritu enjoys involving the local community in the creation of her artworks. She will create a ‘Plant Theater for Plant People’ in Kortrijk. And you can participate (for free)!

To create her art project, Grace Ndiritu will be in residence at Texture starting in February. During a series of monthly co-creation workshops, you will have the chance to create cheerful creative masks, costumes, and protest signs together with her, while also engaging in ecological and spiritual exercises.

This playful, collective experience brings theater to the streets, drawing attention to ecological and social change. The co-creations will literally come to life during a collective performance in the fall, to which you are also invited to participate.

In collaboration with museum TEXTURE.
