This storytelling performance reveals the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg as a man of flesh and blood - fond of rain and hopelessly in love with his land of fjords and fells. It is an intense love he captured like no other, translating it into timeless music.

Do you know what Grieg adored? The rain. Luckily for him, in the place he came from it rains more than 200 days a year — the land of fjords and fells, the land he loved so intensely and always left with a heavy heart: Norway.

Grieg succeeded in giving that land a voice. From the magical Morning Mood to the thunderous In the Hall of the Mountain King. From his majestic piano concerto to his brilliant string quartet. From his delicate lyrical piano pieces to violin sonatas infused with folk colour.

Actor Lucas Van den Eynde, the Desguin String Quartet and pianist Florestan Bataillie reveal how the North inspired him and how he forged a national sound. You’ll hear Grieg’s greatest hits and crowd‑pleasers, but also discover lesser‑known gems. You’ll learn about his triumphs and successes, but also his doubts and insecurities. Grieg becomes once again a man of flesh and blood, standing on stage among his own music.

A performance that resonates with young and old alike.

In collaboration with Wilde Westen.
