In this eco‑futuristic dance opera, doomsday scenarios give way to a hopeful vision of the future in which humans, animals, plants, nature and technology find a new equilibrium. An energetic, full‑bodied spectacle that resonates like one shared, vibrant breath.

In times dominated by doomsday scenarios, theatre offers us the chance to imagine a new, hopeful future for humanity on this planet. In 'NOW WE ARE EARTH / An Orchestra', Beutler invites us to look beyond fear, to embrace change, and to discover the potential for healing. Is the experience of a new equilibrium a ridiculous fantasy — or a visionary proposal?

In 'NOW WE ARE EARTH / An Orchestra', music, voice, dance and scenography merge into a total artwork inspired by the endless, entangled connections of fungal threads in a mycelium network. The voices of the performers and the city choir, led by young composer Timo Tembuyser, intertwine with Lena Newton’s scenography and the electronic, futuristic soundscapes of composer Gary Shepherd. They become one shared, living breath, fuelled by the sun — an energy that is always present and never lost.

In this way, 'NOW WE ARE EARTH / An Orchestra' unfolds into a hopeful vision of the future in five songs, a world in which oppositions fade and boundaries dissolve.
