Belgian guitarists Thomas Decock and Artan Buleshkaj found each other in 2024 through a shared love of Americana. Now a new adventure awaits: a dynamic quintet with double bassist Yannick Peeters, drummer Lionel Beuvens and saxophonist Werend van den Bossche. Together, they push boundaries between past and present, genres and cultures.

Belgian guitarists Thomas Decock and Artan Buleshkaj found each other in 2024 through a shared love of Americana. Their spontaneous jams quickly shifted from jazz standards to folk and country influences. The result was the intimate full‑length album Plain Songs, released on W.E.R.F. Records: twelve pure compositions where Americana harmony and jazz improvisation meet. The album was warmly received and even landed in Knack’s top 10 jazz releases.

Now the duo is gearing up for a new adventure: expanding into a dynamic quintet with a distinctive sound. Double bassist Yannick Peeters and drummer Lionel Beuvens contribute a versatile, tasteful rhythm section, while saxophonist Werend van den Bossche (Dishwasher_) adds fresh energy through his exploration of the intersections between jazz and Appalachian folk.

This deliberate mix of seasoned musicians and fearless young talent creates an exciting cross‑pollination. The new repertoire consists entirely of original work. The intimacy of Plain Songs remains, but gains a more powerful sound, with rock influences and richer production. The result is a band that not only builds on the past, but also searches for its own voice in the present.
