Peter, Abke, and Koen are the only remaining members of a more or less Christian non-profit organization from the 1980s. They still meet every week to prepare a meal for those in need. While cooking for guests who don't show up, tongues roll, pots get broken, and it turns out all three of them are completely crazy. It is what it is.

At an equinox, day and night last the same length everywhere on Earth. This moment of harmony between light and dark therefore symbolizes balance and renewal: it invites us to let go of the old and make room for growth and a new beginning.

Peter, Abke, and Koen are the only remaining members of a more or less Christian non-profit organization from the 1980s. During that period, they moved into an old school building and converted it into a communal living group and community center. Their intention: to alleviate the suffering of others and help people wherever possible. Through discussion groups, flea markets, cooking classes, and all kinds of other activities, they offered a healthy counterpoint to things like cruise missiles, Wham!, acid rain, and the Cold War. They even made the regional news twice, and they are proud of that.

Now, so many years later, everyone has since left the communal living group. Except for Peter, Abke, and Koen. Every week, on Tuesday evenings, they still gather to cook dinner for anyone in need. On stage, there is a fully equipped kitchen where the three actors prepare an elaborate dinner. The drama unfolds while cooking for guests who never show up. Tongues start rolling, pots get broken, and all three turn out—individually and together—to be completely insane and mentally unstable.

But that is not a problem. It is what it is. Those who need help are awaited with longing…

Theatre makers Abke Haring, Peter Seynaeve (NTGent, Zuidelijk Toneel), and Koen van Kaam (Zuidpool) join forces for this new creation, produced by Zuidpool.
