What impact does living with a disability have on a family? Who receives care and who provides it, and how does that shape you as a person? ‘Iemands zuster’ (Someone’s Sister) is an intimate coming-of-age story about growing up with a disability alongside a sister without a disability.

With the intimate ‘Iemands zus', Mira Bryssinck explores the impact of a disability on family life. Through interviews with people with disabilities and their siblings, intimate conversations with family members, clippings from old scrapbooks, and striking documentary material, Bryssinck investigates the grey areas between receiving care and providing care, and how this shapes relationships.

How do you grow up with a disability alongside a sibling without a disability? How does society view this, and in what way do families look back? Based on these conversations, Bryssinck writes a (fictional) narrative about two sisters. On stage, a cinematic coming-of-age story unfolds, carried by the music of Simon Raman.
