‘Ma Andi Mangoul / J’ai rien à dire’ explores the relationship between the Brussels police and young people with a migrant background. Balancing between sharp humour and documentary theatre, the piece invites you to laugh, listen, debate - and question what you thought you knew.

Salim Haouach, artistic director of Ras El Hanout, takes the stage with his father Ahmed to revisit a remarkable chapter from the late 1980s: Ahmed’s experience teaching Arabic to the Belgian police in an effort to build cultural understanding between law enforcement and minority communities. The topic remains painfully relevant today. Ras El Hanout tackles it in a singular performance that blends sharp humour, documentary theatre and pure storytelling.

Drawing directly from the lived experiences of father and son, 'Ma Andi Mangoul / J’ai rien à dire' raises urgent questions: What is the relationship between the police and young people with a migrant background in Brussels? How has it evolved since the late 1980s? The piece brings a range of perspectives to the surface, dismantling archetypes and confronting ingrained prejudices. It’s a performance that makes you laugh, reflect, and reconsider your own place within the system.

Ras El Hanout was founded ten years ago by a group of Brussels friends who believed in theatre as a tool for emancipation, dialogue and social change. Under the artistic leadership of Salim Haouach, the company has grown into a key force in cultural democratisation. With its own theatre space in Molenbeek and an annual touring circuit of original creations, Ras El Hanout continues to expand the conversation - onstage and beyond.
