Aglica Trio and mezzo‑soprano Sterre Decru join forces for an overwhelming dialogue between voice and instrument, past and present. From the passionate Baroque of Barbara Strozzi to the contemporary introspection of Randall Snyder, these young talents dare to explore boundaries - and push them further.

The Aglica Trio is known for its refined interplay and bold programming. Together with mezzo‑soprano Sterre Decru, they create an intense, immersive experience in which Baroque passion and contemporary sound worlds amplify one another. Not a traditional concert, but a living dialogue between voice and instrument, between past and present.

The young quartet delves into music that touches on transience, longing and the fragility of emotion. Sterre Decru’s expressive, poetic voice weaves effortlessly through the trio’s rich instrumental texture, lifting each work into a heightened field of tension. The Baroque comes vividly to life with the gripping aria Che si può fare from Arie, opus 8 by Venetian composer Barbara Strozzi. Francesco Cavalli also appears with Dell’antro magico from his celebrated opera Il Giasone — music brimming with dramatic intensity and theatrical flair.

The leap to the present unfolds through Randall Snyder’s Two Chinese Songs, where centuries‑old Chinese poetry is given a contemporary, hushed musical language. And in the warm‑blooded Trio, opus 127 by Mieczysław Wajnberg, a compelling emotional depth emerges — music that lingers beneath the skin.

Prepare for an exceptional musical encounter filled with nuance, intensity and energy.

In collaboration with Wilde Westen & Conservatorium Kortrijk.
