In 'HUNTER', Liesa Van der Aa plays a game of basketball with the Berlin‑based vocal ensemble B O D I E S. Inspired by Björk’s 'Homogenic' - one of the most iconic works in contemporary pop music - the most sung‑about theme in opera, the state of the heart, is voiced, echoed and played with.

‘HUNTER’ is inspired by one of the most iconic works in contemporary pop music: Homogenic by Icelandic singer and composer Björk. Musically, the playful voices of B O D I E S meet original compositions by Liesa Van der Aa, Björk’s songs and electronic textures. A musical battle against numbness and social fragmentation. A hunt for the heart.

As a violin student at the conservatory, Liesa Van der Aa received a rigorous musical training rooted in the Western classical repertoire. “The beautiful yet extremely detailed music of Mozart represents my musical socialisation. It turned me into a control freak.” Her love of detail and the strictness of the classical tradition are reflected in her own tightly constructed compositions. With HUNTER, she finally breaks through that need for control and gives shape to a deep longing for liberation, emotion and love.
